Goodbye Sister Rose

Rose McLarney, a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet will be leaving the St. Louis area to return to her native Kansas City. This spring she retired as Executive Director of the Center for Women in Transition. Sr. Rose served as Executive Director for more than nine years, taking the organization from a tiny one-room, single-person non-profit group to a thriving mid-sized organization with nearly 30 employees. Under her leadership the program gained national and even international attention as a model program for assisting women coming out of jails and prisons in re-establishing themselves in society. The program is credited with lowering crime rates and saving tax dollars spent in court and prison costs by giving ex-offenders the support they need to build meaningful lives and avoid repeat offenses.

Sr. Rose has been active on the social justice scene and is a long time member of the St. Cronan's parish community.
