John Baptist Odama had to make a choice yesterday. As Archbishop of Gulu in Uganda he certainly must have felt the need to prepare a pastoral letter addressing the central moral issue of our time.
I mean Head scarfs of course.
Instead, the bishop chose to volunteer his services as honest broker and venture into the countryside to meet face to face with rebel leader Joseph Kony. It seemed to him worth the risk. Reconciling the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) with the government of Uganda could stop the killing that has decimated this Central African country.
Fortunately, the bishop's to-do list is not compiled by well meaning U. S. Catholic blogs.
